Constance MacFarlane Seaplant Symposium

Haviland Club

September 24, 2008 – September 27, 2008

The Constance MacFarlane Seaplant Symposium has been organized to honour the history of Dr Constance MacFarlane and her contributions to seaplant science in Atlantic Canada. Connie 's life work focused on fostering the seaweed industry, especially research and development of Irish Moss. The symposium will reflect on this history, take stock of current research and commercial developments in Atlantic Canada and the world, and look to the promising future for Atlantic seaplant products - whether they be food processing, medicinal, tourism products, agricultural or culinary. As part of the symposium we will have a workshop to consider developing an Atlantic seaplant network.

Conference venue: The Haviland Club, 2 Haviland St (bottom of Rochford St), in historic downtown Charlottetown.
