Epi on the Island, 2009 will be held at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island from Monday, June 15th, to Friday, June 19th, 2009.


Course Contents

    Epi on the Island, 2009 will be held at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island from Monday, June 15th, to Friday, June 19th, 2009.

We welcome proposals in a variety of creative presentation formats. Symposium events will take place in artistic venues such as art galleries, cafes, and studio theatres located within the Charlottetown community.

  • Constance MacFarlane Seaplant Symposium

    September 24, 2008 – September 27, 2008

    The Constance MacFarlane Seaplant Symposium has been organized to honour the history of Dr Constance MacFarlane and her contributions to seaplant science in Atlantic Canada. Connie 's life work focused on fostering the seaweed industry, especially research and development of Irish Moss. The symposium will reflect on this history, take stock of current research and commercial developments in Atlantic Canada and the world, and look to the promising future for Atlantic seaplant products - whether they be food processing, medicinal, tourism products, agricultural or culinary. As part of the symposium we will have a workshop to consider developing an Atlantic seaplant network.

    Conference venue: The Haviland Club, 2 Haviland St (bottom of Rochford St), in historic downtown Charlottetown.

The Atlantic Undergraduate Physics and Astronomy Conference (AUPAC), is an annual conference supported through the Atlantic Provinces Council of the Sciences (APICS). APICS is a federally registered charity with a mandate to promote science education and research in Atlantic Canada. Their primary outreach activity is the coordination of annual academic conferences for students in a number of disciplines. These conferences
are planned on behalf of APICS by students and faculty on a voluntary basis at various post-secondary institutions across the region. Formerly known as AUPC, prior to the inclusion of Astronomy, AUPAC has been "in operation" since 1990 and is typically held during the first weekend of February. This conference is dedicated to showcasing the research activities of undergraduate physics and astronomy students across the region and provides an excellent opportunity for students to meet and share ideas.

Fish Health Section American Fisheries Society

Plan to attend the 2008 Fish Health Section AFS meeting to be held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada between July 9th and 12th . The meeting is being hosted by the Atlantic Veterinary College University of Prince Edward Island, and will mark only the second time in history the FHS annual meeting has been held in Canada. We are encouraging our EAFP and other international fish health colleagues to attend. The first call for papers is expected the autumn. Prince Edward Island is easily accessible from Europe, Asia and South America through Halifax, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick by air on several major airlines.
